Welcome Race Fans! 2020 DAYTONA 500

Hello, DIT3!! We are ONE DAY AWAY from the Great American Race! Tomorrow at 2:30pm EST on FOX the 2020 Nascar Cup Series begins and with it, so does the road to the Debris In Turn 3 Championship. First, a thank you to all the returning owners, as well as all the DiT3 rookies for joining us in our FIFTH season playing fantasy Nascar together. Now, many of you I'm sure are not rookies playing fantasy sports. In fact, we needed to enlist the help of Rubbins' Racin', who is new to DiT3 and he made some CRUCIAL changes to the settings to make sure that the Green Flag flies on our league as scheduled. Last year was our first hosting it at Fantrax. In fact, we made a quick move shortly before last season began and this was our first time reactivating the site. I must have made an error in some of the selections while doing so. Promise, I will be more careful next season. However, with the help of all of you, we can ensure that we don't run into any pitfalls that could ruin our season. Many of you reached out and I appreciate the involvement and it all helped to fix this snafu.

Once more, how about the countdown on Instagram that Dan (HighWide&Handsome) did all winter? He did some digging and was able to find some old school pictures. I don't claim to be an expert or a Nascar historian, but I fancy myself a pretty big fan that's up w/where the sport came from, but he managed to surprise me with drivers and cars I had never seen. So, great job Dan and thanks for the work keeping the DiT3 community together during the Nascar offseason. You can follow us on Instagram, Twitter, FB and through our website at DebrisInTurn3.com where you can find a link to our podcast and blog which we'll add to throughout the season after the races. Take a peek this afternoon for a Daytona 500 giveaway to our followers...

So, I keep trying to get to this email this morning, but I'm choring & also have Xfinity qualifying on the television muted. It appears that Ross Chastain is having some sort of catastrophic mechanical failure that may jeopardize his start in this afternoon's race. That would be a major bummer for the Watermelon Man and his seat time before his big 500 start behind the wheel of the Ganassi supported Spire entry no.77. Also, I have the New Smyrna World Series on NBC Track Pass right now. Anyone sign up for that this year? I hope so because even the $19.99 version has been worth the price of admission with the show the Tour Type modifieds have been putting on for the fans. The Matt Hirschman/Anthony Nocella battle the other night was one of the most epic finishes on the short track that I've seen. The racing has been fantastic and the late models of been awesome of course too. I have yet to watch the Richie Evans Memorial race from last night. I may wait until this evening to watch that one because I will never finish this chorin' and my girlfriend Kate and I are headed upstate in NY to my pal's place & we'll house sit while he take his family on a winter trip. Not a bad deal for me because he has cute pets and a great dog named Butters that gets along great my precious pittie, Molly. Then we'll all watch the 500, have some brews and snacks, & then I'll play iRacing VR until my eyes bleed. Sorry again, for bailing on your Daytona 500 party Dan with your lovely wife, Cait. I need my fix of iRacing.

Once again, all the bugs are out. The scoring settings are the same as last season, save the minor change to PG from .5 to 1 & the W, from 5 to 3. Other than that the scoring remains the same. It's fairly basic and straightforward and I keep wondering when Team Alabama Gang is going to get that coveted first career victory. BTW, check out this link for a look back to the Fox Days. I will compile some HISTORY in the Fantrax page in the coming weeks, but I have a feeling we're going to have some boosts in competition this year:

Technically, the Nascar Fantasy Live league still exists. Personally, I think it's a cool feature that they had the garage driver, however it was a major disadvantage to the owners who could not be present to watch a race live and trying to tune in on your mobile spoils the event if you have it recording on your dvr or devices. And I know that a lot of you record and watch the races later. I didn't find it conducive to our fantasy game and the scoring was lackluster and uninspired. The playoff reset was an abomination and sort of ruined the competition that season. Additionally, there was absolutely no way to stay connected during the season with the other owners, although they seem to have added a simple chat system finally. Also, nobody ever got their pole pick in on time..like, ever... But, you can find it here:

but the OFFICIAL DiT3 CHAMPIONSHIP is NOW at FANTRAX.com

Tomorrow is the DAYTONA 500 & for fantasy, it's a crap shoot, is it not? What is the strategy for these Super Speedway races? Most of the time you can roll the dice, but this season, the top 40 teams will become the new DiT3 Cup Series & thereafter, we're going to hopefully be able to get this series system going we have been talking about for awhile with relegation the top/bottom 10 teams. Fantrax seems to be a good platform for us to stay engaged while also offering a game that is competitive and gives us customization controls. The official positioning for the series will be come later in the year because there will be a few rules and caveats that the DiT3 competition committee is still discussing. I think with the help of the DiT3 community we can make the game better than ever and we proved it by working together the last few days to find a solution to those issues that popped up in the offseason. Race Weekend is here and the road to the Championship, the Wave-Arounders Champions League begins NOW.

Tinker, Tinker, and Tinker some more with those rosters.
